THE UNITED NATIONS’ SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
IN NOHRCON
2023
Our planet is suffering and Nohrcon has a responsibility, like every other organisation, to take action and become an active participant in transforming our society towards a sustainable future.
We are ambitious to become advocates for sustainable change using our position within the field of courses and conferences. Through this, we can guide other organisations towards an increasingly sustainable future.
Some of the inspiration is drawn from UN Sustainable Development Goals – from which our main foci will be based on the four goals which correlate with the areas in which our organisation can make a significant impact:

During the past few years, we have already introduced several initiatives related to the specific sustainable development goals. Still, we will continue working diligently towards more sustainability in our company as well as in society.
Below, there is an overview of the most essential initiatives, which we have already implemented, the ones we are currently incorporating – and the ones we have planned for the future related to the four goals specifically
No. 4: Quality Education – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
What we have already implemented:
- We offer the opportunity to participate online in several of our courses through live streaming. Additionally, we have developed several e-learning games, which offers easy and free access to basic knowledge about Procurement regulations and agreements within the field of construction – whenever and wherever.
- In Denmark, we have launched courses about Sustainable Construction and Green Public Procurement, in order to assist others within the field towards a green transition.
- Every year, we support Doctors Without Borders, who among other things educate healthcare professionals in relation to their significant work at the world’s hot spots. See the support logo.
What we are currently doing:
- We are currently developing various new conference lectures, courses and programmes aimed at sustainability. These will be launched during 2023, so keep an eye on the event calendar.
- In Spring 2023, we will launch an e-learning game concerning Green Public Procurement. Through this more people can gain basic knowledge about sustainability, related to Public Procurement. The development of the game was supported by SMV:Grøn.
- We are translating our e-learning games on the Public Procurement Process and Law into several other languages. In that way, even more people will have access to basic knowledge about Public Procurement.
What we want to do in 2023:
- We will expand the launches of our sustainability courses/programmes to other parts of the markets in which we operate. Through this, we will lead more people on the path towards a green transition.
- We will take part in new partnerships, with candidates who will increase the quality and span of our events. In that way, more people will increase the level of their competencies, which will be good for society as well.
- Educate our employees on sustainability in order for us to lead the way exemplarily.
No. 11: Sustainable cities and communities – Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable
What we have already implemented:
- We have convened conferences about self-driving transportation, effective infrastructure, and strategic coast protection to draw attention to reasonable and future-proofed investments and solutions.
- We are using the Ecosia browser, and thereby, we support planting new trees around the world every time we search online using the browser
- To the extent that we can, we prioritize green transportation to and from work
What we are currently doing:
- We want to offer a ‘green’ price/offer to the guests at our future events as well as a green bonus to the employees when they opt for green transportation – we are currently working on how to realize it practically.
- We are working on an employee guide with suggestions for a more sustainable workday.
- Require higher standards from our business partners. Therefore, we are analysing their current efforts and options for improvement.
What we want to do in 2023:
- We plan to sponsor/invest in land for planting trees (and/or nature/animal preservation), or green energy.
- We will add sustainability as a selection criterion for choosing partners and locations for our courses and conferences.
- Expand our new initiatives within the area (above) to other markets in which we operate.
No. 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
What we have already implemented:
- We have abolished printed speaker presentations and appendices – and instead, we offer the course material online.
- We have significantly reduced the number of letters we send out as part of the marketing of our courses and conferences. Now, we primarily use online channels.
- Through our courses and conferences, we have taught hundreds of public and private organisations how to make sustainable purchases as well as how to use sustainable materials in buildings.
What we are currently doing:
- We are putting together a plan for (more) sustainable purchases in our organisation.
- We are working out a calculation of the climate impact of the organisation for the purpose of creating a yearly climate balance.
- Planning a digital clean-up to minimise server utilisation.
What we want to do in 2023:
- Reduce/optimise the use of electricity within the organisation.
- We will work towards a non-print culture.
- We will climate compensate for non-green transportation.
No. 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions – Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels
What we have already implemented:
- We have convened courses about the regulations of Public Procurement in several countries, including; Norway, Germany and France, with the purpose of, for instance, preventing corruption in relation to public investments. This was also a specific speaker topic at our international Public Procurement Conference.
- Launched e-learning games about procurement regulations, which are central in the action against corruption.
- We ran a journalistic project in Denmark entitled Humbug. The project drew attention to topics such as fraud and corruption, and initiatives which can support their combat.
What we are currently doing:
- We are translating our e-learning games about procurement regulations, into more languages, as there is, in several countries, less knowledge about the use of these and thereby a greater risk of corruption in relation to public investments.
- We are researching the possibility of creating a course programme on the topic compliance to reduce the amount of fraud.
- Soon, we are conducting an internal workshop, where we will discuss how Nohrcon can make a significant change within the area.
What we want to do in 2023:
- Research how we can support initiatives and organizations that fight corruption and/or fight for free elections and democracy in countries where this is not a given.
- We will translate/expand our e-learning game about public procurement to a number of countries. This will result in more public institutions being strengthened in their work with public procurement and fight against corruption
- Investigate whether we can develop our annual support for Doctors Without Borders, so that we not only contribute financially to their important work in the world’s hotspots.
