The process of the revision of the Public Procurement Directives is accelerating. The European Commission is currently revising the 2014 Public Procurement Directives. As announced in the Commission Work Programme, the revised framework is scheduled for adoption in the second quarter of 2026. The new legal framework will aim to:
In preparation for the revision, the Commission conducted an in-depth evaluation of the 2014 legal framework. To that end, a public consultation and call for evidence were launched, several external studies were conducted, and a final evaluation report summarising all findings and conclusions was published in October 2025.
As part of the Directives’ revision, an additional public consultation and a call for evidence closed on 26 January 2026.

The Commission is currently analysing the results of the public consultation and will publish a factual summary report in the coming weeks.
