On February 2, the first milestone of the EU AI Act came into force – introducing new requirements, including the obligation for employees to be trained in the AI systems they use. It is therefore crucial to explore Nohrcon’s new event, which will help ensure compliance with the new regulations in the AI Act: The AI & Public Procurement Summit 2025.
According to Article 4 of the EU AI Act, starting from February 2, 2025, all organizations must ensure that their employees possess the necessary AI skills to work responsibly with AI solutions. This requirement applies broadly – regardless of whether the organization develops, operates, or merely uses AI systems.
The AI Act emphasizes that simply implementing artificial intelligence is not enough – organizations must also ensure that employees have the necessary AI literacy. This means that employees must gain knowledge of how AI works, the risks and ethical dilemmas it may pose, and how the technology should be used in accordance with legal requirements.
The AI Act does not distinguish between different levels of risk when it comes to AI systems in this context. This means that whether an organization works with high-risk AI, simple chatbots, or automated decision-making systems, employees must have an appropriate level of AI competence.
The growing use of AI in both the public and private sectors means that artificial intelligence is no longer just a technological issue – it is also an organizational and legal responsibility. Lack of AI competence can lead to misinterpretation of AI models, violations of data protection laws, or biased decision-making processes.
With the AI Act, the EU aims to ensure a sustainable and responsible use of AI, where users understand the technology and its implications. The requirement for AI skills is intended to enhance transparency, data security, and ethical AI implementation across all sectors.
To comply with the requirements, businesses and public authorities should start planning now how they will train their employees. This can, for example, be done through courses or certification programs, ensuring a broad understanding of AI’s functionality, legal framework, and practical applications.
At Nohrcon, we offer specialized courses on AI and law, including our AI Management Certification (in Denmark) and our new AI event in Paris, designed to equip participants with the knowledge needed to understand and navigate the new legal requirements:
